"Book Review: Ei Bosonte by Humayun Ahmed"

This novel is unique comparing to the other writings of Humayun Ahmed. This novel starts with the release of a prisoner after six years in a jovial spring day. His name is Johur. He was accused of murdering a person though he did nothing. The murdered person was Minu's husband. Johur liked Minu and he used to go to Minu's house off and on. That was the reason for the suspect. The person behind accusing Johur was Chowdhury Saheb who had eminent influence in Nilganj. Johur went to his brother-in-law's (Dobir Mia) house as he used to stay there. Dobir was not happy in his family. Even he tortured his daughters. Dobir had a shop at the market which was robbed one night. The night guard was accused for this and he was murdered by the torture of Police investigation. It was witnessed by Saiful who was a singer. Saiful started writing anonymous letters to the police and newspaper office with threats. The police came to know about Saiful behind threatening them and he was punished by Chowdhury Saheb in front of the public. Once, Johur was a Commander of freedom fighters in 1971. Once, he stood against the misleads of Chowdhury Saheb. But this time he was not doing anything. It was like the spring had changed the person that he used to be and made him something else. The spring had dropped his spirits as leaves. Everyone thought that he would kill Chowdhury Saheb after his release. But he didn't. He was normal with him too. But when Chowdhury Saheb was banishing out Saiful from Nilganj, it was felt that he was going to do something about it but it was unclear.

The ending of this novel is vague. It would have been bigger in the description. It illustrates the dominance of rich people to society. This also indicates the going out of spirit against injustice and inequity. But at the last, the novel again implies the ignite contrary to the guileful .
