Successful Expert Session on BAETE Accreditation and BAC Standards

The Department of Civil Engineering at UITS is proud to announce the successful completion of a highly engaging and insightful session held on 25 May 2025. The focus of this event was the upcoming BAETE accreditation process for our B.Sc. in Civil Engineering program — a vital milestone in our commitment to academic excellence.

We were deeply honored to welcome our distinguished guest speaker, Professor Dr. Engr. Md. Rashidul Hasan, a nationally recognized authority in civil engineering education. He is a Panel Program Evaluator for BAETE under the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB) and a Life Fellow (F/4939) of IEB. His professional affiliations also include key leadership roles such as Chairman of IEB Natore Sub-Centre and Vice Chairman of IEB Rajshahi Centre.

With over 31 years of combined academic, administrative, and engineering experience, Professor Hasan has served as Chief Engineer at RUET, Dean at BAUET, and has contributed significantly to national infrastructure through his early-career engineering roles under the Roads and Highways Department (RHD). His multifaceted experience enriched the session with both academic and real-world perspectives.

In his presentation titled “Accreditation Standards and Criteria of BAC Bangladesh Accreditation Council and BAETE”, he provided a comprehensive overview of:

Curriculum structure and assessment systems

Faculty competence requirements

Infrastructure and learning resources

Quality assurance and continuous improvement mechanisms

He also elaborated on how BAC standards are designed to align programs with the Bangladesh National Qualifications Framework (BNQF) and global best practices—ensuring continuous improvement, enhanced graduate outcomes, and international benchmarking.

This session was particularly impactful as we prepare for the IEB-BAETE and BAC accreditation processes, both of which are key to establishing a culture of quality and accountability, while opening doors to global recognition through the Washington Accord.
